Join us in congratulating these recent Bay-Lakes Council Eagle Scouts:

Nicholas Berg, Troop 81 of Neenah, WI, Gathering Waters District
Michael Floriano, Troop 532 of Norway, MI, Hiawathaland District
Tanner Thiel, Troop 32 of Shawano, WI, Gathering Waters District

Nicholas Berg, a member of Troop 81, chartered by St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Neenah, WI, completed his Eagle Board of Review on July 21, 2022.

His Eagle project, in his own words: “For my project, I created a donation box for the Neenah animal shelter. Their previous donation bin was damaged and had to be emptied multiple times a day because it was not large enough. To fix this, some of my friends and fellow Scouts helped create a bigger donation box with 2 levels. The upper compartment was for smaller donations and the lower compartment was for the larger donations. This new and improved donation box help store and protect the vital donations they receive from the generous community.”

His unit leader is Benjamin Zeier. A Court of Honor will be held this fall.

Michael Floriano, a member of Troop 532, chartered by Sons of the American Legion Squad 145 out of Norway, MI, completed his Eagle Board of Review on August 1, 2022.

His Eagle project in his own words: “My Eagle Scout project was revamping the Tom King Memorial in Randville, MI. Tom King was the last chief of the Badwater Band of Chippewa Indians. We created a brick perimeter wall and seating area at the memorial and incorporated symbols that are meaningful to the Chippewa Tribe, including 2 Mountain Ash trees, eagle statues and a medicine wheel. The project was done to honor Tom King and will benefit local residents that can use the area as a gathering spot or as a rest area for individuals travelling along M95.

His unit leader is Geoff White. A Court of Honor date is yet to be determined.

Tanner Thiel, a member of from Troop 32, chartered by Shawano United Methodist Church out of Shawano, WI, completed his Eagle Board of Review on July 26, 2022. It was held at Bear Paw Scout Camp where he worked on Summer Camp staff.

His Eagle project, in his own words: “My Eagle project was to lead a group of Scouts in cleaning World War 1 veterans’ grave stones. Because I have helped with placing flags at the graves since I was very little, alongside of my Older Brother who is also an Eagle Scout. this project was a great fit for me. I felt this was a very worthy project as the veterans give their life for our country and not many have family around to keep the stones cleaned.”

His unit leader is Bob Smits. A Court of Honor will be held this fall.
